In 1993, he completed his composition studies, and in 1995 \u2013 a postgraduate assistantship-internship at the same institution. In 1997, he studied at the Cologne Conservatory. Between 1982\u20131996, he taught at B. Dvarionas Music School\u2019s jazz department and performed in various ensembles led by V. \u010cekasin.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 1993, he participated in the international Kiev Contemporary Jazz Festival, where he became a laureate. This award brought him international recognition and led the renowned British contemporary music label Leo Records to release his album \u201cFrontiers\u201d in 1995. That same year, encouraged by Professor Julius Juzeli\u016bnas, he began to establish himself as a performer and composer of contemporary music. He founded the contemporary music ensemble \u201cEx tempore\u201d, with which he performed his own and Lithuanian composers\u2019 contemporary music both in Lithuania and abroad. He also performed with \u0160ar\u016bnas Nakas\u2019 contemporary music ensemble.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Lithuanian composers such as O. Balakauskas, A. Martinaitis, V. Lauru\u0161as, \u0160. Nakas, S. Dik\u010di\u016bt\u0117, R. Merkelys, and others have written works specifically for him as a trombonist.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 With his initiative, the collection of Lithuanian contemporary composers\u2019 works \u201cLithuanian Art Music\u201d was released on CD. Together with pianist Daniel Kramer, he recorded and released the jazz projects \u201cSolo Duo Trio\u201d and \u201cSing, Sing, Sing\u201d in 1995, which were successfully presented at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and at other international jazz festivals.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 1996, along with trumpeter Markus Stockhausen, pianist Petras Geniu\u0161as, and chamber choir \u201cAidija\u201d, he recorded the CD \u201c3 Premieres\u201d, featuring works by O. Balakauskas, B. Kutavi\u010dius, and R. Merkelys.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 From 2008 to 2011, he led the \u0160iauliai City Wind Orchestra. He has been a lecturer at the conservatories of Vilnius and \u0160iauliai, and at \u0160iauliai University. He was a member of the London Bridge Ensemble, the Moscow Composers Orchestra, and the leader of the R\u016bdi\u0161k\u0117s Brass Band. Under his leadership, both the \u0160iauliai City Wind Orchestra and the R\u016bdi\u0161k\u0117s Brass Band became prize winners in D and E categories at international wind orchestra championships in Panev\u0117\u017eys, performing works by leading European contemporary composers as well as his own.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Since 2011, he has been a member of the Representative Wind Orchestra of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. He is the initiator, participant, composer, and arranger of various jazz, contemporary, and sacred music projects, and has performed with artists such as Asmik Grigorian, Vladimir Tarasov, Lithuanian Art Orchestra, Marco Badini, Daniel Kramer, Vladimir Miller, Sainkho Namtchylak, Markus Stockhausen, Itamar Borochov, and others.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Vytautas Pilibavi\u010dius actively composes and arranges works for wind ensembles and orchestras.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 At the 2018 Lithuanian Song Festival \u201cVardan tos\u201d during the wind orchestra concert \u201cVario audra\u201d (Brass Storm), his composition \u201cTrombon\u0173 Funky\u201d was performed by 40 trombonists.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 2016, he founded the Lithuanian Trombone Project. Since 2018, together with ethnomusicologist and folk singer Loreta Sungailien\u0117, they prepared a program of Lithuanian folk song arrangements and original compositions, performing concerts both in Lithuania and abroad. In September 2018, they successfully appeared at international jazz festivals in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The program \u201cLithuanian Trombone Project and Loreta Sungailien\u0117\u201d features original compositions by Vytautas Pilibavi\u010dius and his arrangements of Lithuanian folk songs \u2014 calendar, work, family, and war songs from various regions of Lithuania. The works combine the sensitive poetry of folk songs, winding melodies, and modern jazz and contemporary harmonies, blending authentic folk singing with masterful jazz and contemporary music interpretations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Vytautas Pilibavi\u010dius:<br \/>&#8220;The project\u2019s compositions are diverse in style and mood \u2014 a synthesis of folk, jazz, and contemporary music.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 He is also the initiator of the LAV-Trio, performing together with kankl\u0117s player Aist\u0117 Bru\u017eait\u0117 and folk vocalist Loreta Sungailien\u0117. He has created Folk Jazz programs for the wind orchestras \u201cTrimitas\u201d and \u201cVRM Orchestra\u201d, as well as a program for \u201cVRM Orchestra\u201d with folk singer Rasa Serra, incorporating electronics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Vytautas Pilibavi\u010dius also composes for symphony orchestra, strings, and writes songs for various pop and contemporary music performers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 His work is characterized by a strong connection to Lithuanian folk music, combining it with modern means of expression.
