From 1925 to 1936, the future founder and leader of the \u0160iauliai Brass Band, Stasys Jautakas (1906\u20131975), played in this military band. Therefore, the roots of today&#8217;s \u0160iauliai Brass Band can be traced back to 1922.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 1945, S. Jautakas established the \u0160iauliai Music School Brass Band and led it until 1966. At that time, he decided that it was time for \u0160iauliai to have a professional city brass band. The band performed its first concert on May 1, 1967, during the opening of the summer season at \u0160iauliai Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Since then, the band has performed in \u0160iauliai city and the surrounding region, regularly participating in traditional festivals (in Ma\u017eeikiai, Panev\u0117\u017eys, Kaunas, Palanga, Plung\u0117, and other cities), as well as in national brass band championships. Since 1970, the band has been a participant in the national and later the World Lithuanian Song Festivals, earning awards and prizes in these competitions. The band has successfully toured in Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Germany, France, Sweden, and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The \u0160iauliai Brass Band has performed together with international competition laureates J. Lopetait\u0117, J. Leitait\u0117, R. Vingras, and opera soloist V. Juozapaitis. Lithuanian pop legends such as A. Jarulis, J. \u017dukauskas, O. Karkauskait\u0117, T. Bigota, V. Va\u0161kas, A. \u010ci\u017eauskait\u0117, and instrumentalists A. Stulgys, M. Streikut\u0117, B. \u0160apiro have also performed with the band.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Concert programs have been prepared together with E. Sipavi\u010dius, M. Vitulskis, the folk ensemble \u201cSalduv\u0117,\u201d the folk music ensemble \u201cSaul\u0117,\u201d the youth chamber choir \u201cAt\u017ealynas,\u201d and the \u0160iauliai Boys\u2019 and Youth Choir \u201cDagil\u0117lis.\u201d The orchestra collaborates with various music and art school ensembles and soloists in preparing programs for national holidays. It has also prepared programs together with dance groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The band\u2019s artistic directors and conductors have included V. Masionis, T. Kazlauskas, K. Venclova, R. Jankus, P. \u010cepulis, V. Stonkus, V. Pilibavi\u010dius, G. Br\u016bzga.
