\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The children and youth folklore ensemble \u201cGers smuoks\u201d (25 members) of \u0160ilal\u0117 District Municipality Culture Centre is celebrating its thirteenth year of activity. Since 2018, the ensemble has been led by Ilona Raudonien\u0117. The ensemble was founded and for eight years was directed by Irmina K\u0117blien\u0117 and Jolanta Ka\u017eukauskien\u0117.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The ensemble’s program includes traditional Lithuanian and Samogitian folk songs, traditional folk dances, circle dances, and games. The group actively participates in numerous district, Samogitian region, and national events, festivals, competitions, and ethnocultural evenings, and also contributes significantly to organizing traditional ethnocultural camps and other events promoting ethnoculture.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For many years, members of the ensemble have participated in the national folk dance contest \u201cPatrepsyn\u0117\u201d, where they have often become nominees and, in 2013, were the national winners.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Since 2012, the folklore ensemble has been a regular participant in the Lithuanian Song Festivals (in 2018, it was awarded Category II). In 2019, the group participated in the international folklore festival \u201cPrague Days\u201d, and in 2019 and 2020 appeared on the national TV show \u201cDuokim garo\u201d. The ensemble \u201cGers smuoks\u201d also serves as the coordinator of the national contest \u201cThe Whole School Dances\u201d in \u0160ilal\u0117 district. On February 20, 2020, the ensemble was invited to present traditional dances and the national ethnocultural initiative \u201cAll Lithuania Dances\u201d at the 21st International Vilnius Book Fair.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On April 15, 2022, the instrumental group of the folklore ensemble \u201cGers smuoks\u201d performed a joint program at the national folk music festival \u201cTrimitatis\u201d in Taurag\u0117. On April 22, 2022, the ensemble participated in the national creative education event \u201cSukas, sukas mal\u016bn\u0117lis, \u010diau\u0161ka, \u0161\u0117lsta jaunim\u0117lis\u201d during Jurgin\u0117s Day at the Raud\u0117nai Multifunctional School Center in \u0160iauliai district.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On May 19, 2022, at the national traditional dance contest \u201cPatrepsyn\u0117\u201d held in \u0160iauliai, three couples from the folklore ensemble became winners in one of the dance categories. In the same year, \u201cGers smuoks\u201d participated in the Western Song Festival. On June 2\u20134, the ensemble represented \u0160ilal\u0117 district at the Taurag\u0117 County Song Festival \u201cThe Children of Kar\u0161uva Land\u201d. On July 12\u201315, they performed at the international folklore festival \u201cEuropeade 2022\u201d in Klaip\u0117da. From August 24\u201328, \u201cGers smuoks\u201d, together with the Ma\u017eeikiai folklore ensemble \u201cAlksna\u201d, performed at the international folklore festival \u201cLipa kust\u201d in Latvia.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0On May 4, 2023, the folklore ensemble \u201cGers smuoks\u201d contributed to the international Erasmus+ project at Paj\u016bris St. Bir\u017ei\u0161kis Gymnasium, organizing an evening for project guests from abroad.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On May 19, 2023, the ensemble participated in the national \u201c\u0160ilo gegu\u017ein\u0117\u201d event in the \u0160ilal\u0117 city pine forest.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On June 16, 2023, the ensemble presented a concert program at the national children and youth folklore festival \u201cPyvelie \u017ealiuo\u201d.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On July 8, 2023, they took part in the international folk festival \u201cSaul\u0117s \u017eiedas\u201d in \u0160iauliai.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On July 14, 2023, they performed at the national folk festival \u201cGiedu giesmel\u0119\u201d, dedicated to the 770th anniversary of Laukuva town.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The ensemble also participated in the Taurag\u0117 County traditional dance evening \u201cJaunim\u0117li, eik\u0161 pas mus\u201d and in the Samogitian region\u2019s ethnocultural night dedicated to the Year of the Horse.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 2024, the \u0160ilal\u0117 District Municipality Culture Centre folklore ensemble \u201cGers smuoks\u201d participated in the Lithuanian Song Festival.<\/p>\n
