\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 She gives lectures on the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural traditions and serves as co-author and consultant for national and multinational nominations to UNESCO\u2019s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. She leads folk singing workshops and directs the Vilnius City Folk Ensemble \u201cVirvyt\u0117.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 2024, the ethnomusicologist worked as part of the creative and organizational team for the Folklore Day \u201cRasi rasoj rasi\u201d at the Lithuanian Song Festival \u201cKad giria \u017ealiuot\u0173,\u201d celebrating the festival\u2019s centenary. She also performed as a soloist at the Centennial Evening and Dance Day \u201cAm\u017ei\u0173 tiltais\u201d concerts.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 L. Sungailien\u0117 is a folk singer with extensive stage experience and the ability to reveal the beauty of sung folklore in various musical styles and genres. She is a participant and soloist in world music projects \u201cSutartin\u0117s Party\u201d and \u201cZAP. Keturi elementai\u201d (Four Elements), and has performed with jazz musician Dainius Pulauskas, Art\u016bras Novikas\u2019 group \u201cJazz Island,\u201d the M. K. \u010ciurlionis Quartet, the Vilnius Choir, the State Song and Dance Ensemble \u201cLietuva,\u201d leading national wind orchestras, as well as with musicians from the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 L. Sungailien\u0117 is the vocalist in folk jazz projects \u201cLithuanian Trombone Project and Loreta Sungailien\u0117,\u201d \u201cLoreta and Vytautas Folk Jazz Group,\u201d as well as in the groups \u201cLAV Trio\u201d and \u201cTrio Kartu.\u201d She has performed together with academic and jazz musicians in various Lithuanian cities and international jazz festivals in Lithuania, Ukraine, and Bulgaria.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 2023, she participated in the concert \u201cMusic Unites the World\u201d at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kyiv, where she performed Lithuanian folk song arrangements (composer V. Pilibavi\u010dius) together with the Ukrainian Academic Wind Orchestra. In 2024, L. Sungailien\u0117 performed with the Kyiv Academic Wind Orchestra in various Lithuanian cities.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For her contribution to the preservation and passing on of Lithuanian folklore to future generations, she was awarded a nomination by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, as well as the Order of Merit for Lithuania medal, presented by the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskait\u0117. In 2017, together with her colleague Audron\u0117 Vakarinien\u0117, L. Sungailien\u0117 became the second prize laureate at the international music festival-contest Sharq Taronalari in Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan, under UNESCO patronage).<\/p>\n
