Damilė and Lukas Bagdonavičiai — a family of folklore enthusiasts who found each other at the Vilnius University Folk Ensemble “Ratilio”, combining the roots of Damilė from Šiauliai and Lukas from Vilnius.
Lukas is a physics teacher and deputy principal for education at Vilnius Vyčio Gymnasium, exploring ways to integrate ethnocultural expression into education. Damilė is a communication specialist working with the Inventory of Lithuanian Intangible Cultural Heritage, a host of folklore events, and a traditional dance teacher at the Vilnius University Folk Ensemble “Ratilio”.
For the Bagdonavičiai family, folklore is an inseparable part of both their lives and their family bond. United by traditional songs, music, and dance, they not only present ethnic culture on stage, but also live it — surrounded by authentic interactions with like-minded people, modern interpretations of traditions, celebrations, and daily rituals.
