The Cacereña Folklore Association “El Redoble” is a non-profit cultural association that works altruistically in the defense and conservation of Ethnomusicology and Folklore, as well as everything that is related to and is part of the Anthropological, Ethnographic, Ethnological, Historical, and Traditional of Extremadura.
The Association does not depend on any entity or public or private body, it is independent and does not receive any type of subsidies. It is made up of more than two hundred people who carry out their work on a voluntary basis, contributing a monthly fee for its operation and maintenance.
Its beginnings take place in July 1982 in the city of Cáceres, when, reunited with a group of fans who had belonged to other folkloric groups, they decided to create the Folklore Group “El Redoble”, which has its first performance, as such, in January 1983. The group, its original composition already consolidated, expands its number and begins the search for its own personality, and this is the matrix that gives rise and meaning to the constitution of an association that can create the necessary areas for the itself is really a folklore group, in all the amplitude of the word, and not just a group that sings and dances.
Subsequently, due to the need to introduce personal contributions to the collected musical folklore, a folk music division was created that gave rise to the Aljibe Group, called AL-BIR (Arab Aljibe) since November 5, 1992.
The two groups are in charge of disseminating, in their representations, the field work of the different areas. That is, the group “El Redoble” in its pure folklore aspect, and the Al-Bir group in that of folk music, have spread Extremadura folklore throughout the national geography and in different countries of Europe, America, Africa and Asia.
In the aspect of everything related and that revolves around ethnomusicology and folklore, the Groups of the Cacereña Folklore Association “El Redoble” have been establishing an interpretive form that has given them current prestige and projection, reflected in a way of being, living and doing folklore, performing ethnographic/costumbrist shows of a classical nature, and introducing other more ambitious productions with contemporary music and dance inspired by tradition.

For all this and, “For the trajectory, for the work of investigation and recovery of the popular traditions of Extremadura, developing and disseminating the culture of the region outside and within our borders…” the regional assembly awarded the association the MEDAL OF EXTREMADURA in 2005 highest award of the autonomous community.
