HUNGARY 🇭🇺 “KINCSŐ” FOLK DANCE ENSEMBLE

TARPTAUTINIS FOLKLORO KONKURSAS-FESTIVALIS “SAULĖS ŽIEDAS”

The Kincső Folk Dance Ensemble was founded in Budapest in 1980. Since then, five groups have been working regularly. From small children to adults, more than 130 dancers actively nurture and promote the broad diversity of Hungarian folklore.

In addition to performances, the ensemble is also engaged in educational work, hosting regular dance workshops and classes open to all interested participants. Hungarian folk tradition is incredibly rich and colorful — our ancestors had different dances and costumes from village to village. Our mission is to preserve this treasure and enable today’s youth to recognize, joyfully practice, and carry on these traditions.

For us, folk dance is more than art; it is a powerful force that builds communities, connects people, and creates a bridge between generations.

The Dance Ensemble has recently participated in an Erasmus project together with Polish and Bulgarian groups, achieving great success in Poland. We have performed at numerous prestigious events in Hungary and abroad, such as the Danube Carnival in Budapest and the Art Festival in Prague. Under the leadership of István Mosóczi, the ensemble has expanded its repertoire to include a wide variety of choreographies from the Carpathian Basin. In 2023, the ensemble received the title of “Highlighted Award of Merited Dance Ensemble,” which is a great honor in the Hungarian folk dance world.
