The Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra was founded on September 4, 1991. The orchestra’s first bandmaster was Major Justinas Jonušas (1938–2013).
   The orchestra consists of 60 professional musicians. It is led by the bandmaster, Major Egidijus Ališauskas, assisted by conductor Captain Dainius Pavilionis.
   The Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra takes part in high-level state guest welcoming ceremonies, state events, official ceremonies and celebrations of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and also performs military parade (defile) programs.
   The orchestra’s performances can also be heard in solo concerts for the Lithuanian public, as well as on Lithuanian radio and television. The ensemble has released seven CDs.
   Since its establishment, the orchestra has collaborated with military bands and their conductors from European Union and NATO countries. The Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra has successfully participated in military music festivals and performed in Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Estonia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
   The musicians of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra have performed with soloists such as Povilas Stravinskas (piano), Sergijus Kirsenka (tuba), Daumantas Slipkus (piano), and have accompanied singers Virgilijus Noreika, Asmik Grigorian, Veronika Povilionienė, Carsie Sawyer, and other performers and ensembles.
    In its library, the Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra holds over a thousand works by Lithuanian and foreign composers, stored on tapes and compact discs. Many of the orchestra’s recordings are also preserved in the archives of Lithuanian radio and television. The orchestra maintains creative ties with military bands from the USA, Belgium, Hungary, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Germany.
