Diana Martinaitienė is an ethnomusicologist, expert-consultant for the Lithuanian National Centre for Culture in the Šiauliai region, and cultural event organizer at the Ginkūnai Cultural Centre.
For many years, she taught ethnoculture and folklore subjects at Šiauliai University, led the university’s folk ensemble “Vaiguva”, and worked in Šiauliai city cultural institutions as well as in the Culture Division of the Šiauliai District Municipality Administration.
She is the author and long-time organizer of the “Patrepsynė” national folk dance competition for schoolchildren. She is also a co-founder of the folk dance music group “Šiauliai United”, and an organizer and host of folk dance evenings in the north-central region of Lithuania.
Currently, she leads “Evening Singing Sessions” dedicated to the Year of Lithuanian Folk Songs, and participates as a jury member in various ethnocultural and folklore competitions in Lithuania, including the National Ethnoculture Olympiad, the children’s and youth folk performance contest “Tramtatulis”, the “Patrepsynė” folk dance competition, and others. She is serving for the seventh time on the jury of the International Folk Contest-Festival “Saulės žiedas”.
Diana Martinaitienė also hosts a radio show titled “Kultūros viražai”, where she regularly covers ethnocultural events and current topics.
In 2009, she was awarded the Šiauliai City Culture and Art Prize for her outstanding contribution to the preservation of ethnic culture and heritage.
