“The playing of the kanklės, a unique Lithuanian folk stringed instrument, by Kristina Kuprytė is a culmination of what has been achieved in the development of the whole culture related to the kanklės.” Prof. Dr. Algirdas Vyžintas, from a review of the CD “Colours of the Kanklės”, 2005
A graduate of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Kristina is a performer, a creative director of artistic collaboration, and an expert teacher. Her students – like herself – are laureates of national and international competitions and active participants in cultural events and festivals.
She is frequently invited to appear on television and radio programs, as well as to serve on the juries of prestigious music competitions.
Kristina’s artistic work spans a wide spectrum – from the ancient traditions of the kanklės to bold modern interpretations and experimental forms, from deep folkloric roots to imaginative, cross-genre collaborations.
She actively works with classical musicians, orchestras, and instrument craftsmen. One of her closest artistic partnerships is with the Šiauliai City Chamber Orchestra “Camerata Solaris”.
Currently based in the Netherlands, Kristina continues her journey as a musical pilgrim – travelling the world and, through her music, telling the story of Lithuania and the kanklės.

Andrėja Baužaitė is a young performer for whom the kanklės has become an inseparable part of life.
She currently studies at Šiauliai Simonas Daukantas Engineering Gymnasium and began her musical journey at Šiauliai’s First Music School. After graduating, Andrėja remained faithful to music and continues to actively participate in concerts, festivals, and cultural events.
Even during her music school years, she gained recognition. Her achievements have been acknowledged in numerous national and international competitions, including the prestigious Jonas Švedas and Balys Dvarionas contests.
At the Saulės Žiedas festival, Andrėja will perform alongside with Kristina Kuprytė as part of “Lumen Duo”.
What began as a shared learning journey between teacher and student has grown into a creative partnership – a connection between two generations, built on musical experience and youthful energy.
