The Folk Ensemble “Sidabrinė gija” of Šiauliai Culture Centre has been active for more than 30 years. It is led by artistic director Vita Taučienė-Rezgienė. The ensemble consists of 25 senior participants who cherish folklore, with members aged between 64 and 96 years.
The ensemble “Sidabrinė gija” participates in various events and concerts, as well as the international folklore festival “Atataria lamzdžiai” in Kaunas and the international folk festival “Saulės žiedas” since 2005.
“Having fallen in love with song and dance in our youth, inheriting the ethnic heritage from our parents and grandparents, and preserving it in our hearts as a cultural treasure, we now bring it to the present day with love and respect for the younger generation,” say the ensemble members in unison.
