LITHUANIA 🇱🇹 TAURAGĖ CULTURE CENTRE’S FOLK ENSEMBLE “JŪRUPĖ”

TARPTAUTINIS FOLKLORO KONKURSAS-FESTIVALIS “SAULĖS ŽIEDAS”

The folklore ensemble “Jūrupė” was established in 2010. Its mission is to preserve and present the sung and spoken folklore traditions of the Tauragė region. In 2013, the ensemble recorded a CD titled “Songs of the Tauragė Region (Southern Samogitia).” The group participated in the Lithuanian Song Festivals in 2014 and 2018.

In 2024, part of the ensemble’s lineup changed as new members joined. Currently, the ensemble consists of 16 members. The participants are of various ages, from children to seniors.

The ensemble took part in the centenary Song Festival “Kad giria žaliuotų” (May the Forest Be Green) with a new program “Biteli pilkuoji – kur dyna lakiuoji?” (Little Gray Bee – Where Are You Flying Today?).

With the addition of new members (musicians), an instrumental group was formed, featuring accordion, bandoneon, violin, lumzdelis (flute), and drum.
