“KRAKUS” is the oldest student folklore ensemble in Poland. It was founded at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków in 1949 by Wiesław Białowąs.
In 2024, the ensemble is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Over 75 years of activity, “KRAKUS” has performed approximately 5,000 concerts in Poland and abroad, receiving enthusiastic applause in European countries, as well as in Asia, Africa, North and South America.
During this time, the ensemble has completed more than 200 international artistic tours. The group has received many awards at both Polish and international festivals. In just the last five years, “KRAKUS” has performed at festivals in the Philippines, Mexico, Georgia, Serbia, Croatia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, the Azores, Czechia, and Slovakia.
In March 2024, the ensemble was awarded Best Music at the 76th International Folklore Festival in Agrigento (Sicily, Italy).
The ensemble presents original and authentic Polish folklore, artistically transformed and adapted for stage performances. During the festival in Lithuania, the ensemble will present a program from the Małopolska Region.
