Registration for the 11th International Folklore Contest-Festival “Saulės Žiedas” is now open. From 2 to 6 July 2027, folklore groups and performers from Lithuania and around the world will once again come together in Šiauliai.
Now entering its third decade, “Saulės Žiedas” will return to Šiauliai for its 11th edition next summer. The festival brings together folklore ensembles, dancers, musicians, singers and representatives of traditional culture from many different countries. Its programme includes the international folklore contest, concerts, performances in public spaces, traditional dance and folk game presentations, fairs, educational activities and opportunities to discover and experience different cultures.
In 2027, the festival expects to welcome participants from 10–15 foreign countries, as well as more than 600 performers from Lithuania. “Saulės Žiedas” has been recognised within the international folklore festival community for many years. The festival joined the International Dance Festivals Federation (FIDAF) in 2014 and was named one of the Best FIDAF Festivals of 2023. It is also included in the international events programme of the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV).
Registration is available online through the official festival website. International performers wishing to take part in the contest programme may apply until 1 February 2027.
We invite all interested groups and performers to read the festival regulations, choose the most suitable participation programme and submit their application. Full information and registration forms are available at www.saulesziedas.lt.
“Saulės Žiedas” is more than a contest and a series of concerts. During the festival, Šiauliai becomes a meeting place for traditions from different parts of the world. Music, dance and customs move beyond the stage into the city itself, creating opportunities for performers and audiences to meet, share and discover one another’s cultures.
We look forward to receiving your applications!
See you in Šiauliai on 2–6 July 2027 at the 11th International Folk Contest-Festival “Saulės Žiedas”!
